Traffic-Line EU Flexible Posts are a light-weight cylinder used to guide traffic or provide warning or approaching hazards. Manufactured in HDPE material with Retro-reflective sleeves, they are used on non-public roads, private property such as distribution depots, warehouses, car-parts etc. A special joint in the base ensures that they are self-righting (the ability to right oneself, that is, to rebound from adversity by taking effective actions to adapt to it and by seeking a functional accommodation within the constraints imposed by the environment) after a collision.

Flexible bollards are designed to prevent vehicles from sustaining damage if they strike them.

In an impact scenario, polyurethane bends without damaging the car or the bollard and returns to its original shape once the vehicle has moved away. In parking lots, these flexible posts are a common sight, used as stall poles or as traffic guides. Clipping one will alert the driver to return to position, but it will not slow or stop the vehicle.

The occasional use of these is to delineate lanes or serve as medians***.

Knock-down or rounding versions have no flexibility in the bollard body. Instead, they sit on flexible bases. This type of post is usually constructed from hard, high-visibility plastic and is designed to be easily replaced if damaged by a vehicle. On highways or other areas of high traffic, they are frequently used to delineate lanes.

An integrated bayonet connector fits into the base which can be bolted to the ground or fixed with a commercial adhesive.

Post comes complete with 4 No. M12 x 100mm Rawlbolts* (SKU 109.17.393) and Base (SKU 291.11.145).

* Rawlbolts, are high quality anchor bolts used for construction, industrial maintenance and renovation projects.  Rawl anchor bolts are primarily used to install structures to concrete, brick, block and stone.

** HDPE – High Density Polyethyleneis a thermoplastic polymer made from petroleum. As one of the most versatile plastic materials around, HDPE plastic issued in a wide variety of applications. Known for its outstanding tensile strength and large strength-to-density ratio, HDPE plastic has a high-impact resistance and melting point.

***A median is the part of the roadway that separates opposing directions of travel, or local lanes from through travel lanes. The median may be raised, depressed, or flush with the road surface. In general, the median runs continuously through an entire block. As a result, an island can be defined as a space separating two traffic lanes for the purpose of controlling traffic flow.

The raised medians and islands provide a space for pedestrian safety features, traffic control devices, and amenities, as well as landscaping and storm water management. Adding medians alone may also increase vehicle speeds by reducing friction between opposing directions of traffic, and as a result, they can provide traffic calming and aesthetic benefits.

In situations where there is no median, raised islands may be used as a traffic calming device to temporarily narrow the traveled way, either in mid-block locations or at entrances to residential areas.

A median or island may be installed as part of a traffic calming project or as part of a private or public initiative.
