FAQs

Not every site is standard — and that’s where we excel. At Aremco Barriers, we manufacture made-to-measure barriers, bollards, and gates designed to suit awkward entrances, wide access points, high-security areas, and sites with specific operational requirements. Because everything is produced in our UK facility, we can tailor each product to your exact needs, including: Height and width Clearance levels Mounting options (surface-mounted or below ground) RAL colour and finish (galvanised or powder coated) Locking systems and security accessories Site-specific safety signage We have supplied bespoke solutions for councils, logistics centres, warehouses, schools, commercial premises, and residential driveways — ensuring every installation fits correctly, performs reliably, and is built for long-term use.

Do you manufacture bespoke barriers or gates to suit unusual spaces

Yes — we specialise in manufacturing made-to-measure barriers and gates for awkward or non-standard spaces. Many sites don’t suit off-the-shelf products, whether that’s due to wide spans, tight entrance angles, sloped ground, uneven surfaces, or restricted turning areas. Because we produce everything in-house, we can design solutions that work around your exact site conditions rather than forcing a compromise.

We can tailor key elements such as height, width, post spacing, steel specification, finishes, and locking methods to ensure the product fits both practically and visually within your environment. Whether you need a single bespoke barrier or a full access control solution across a larger site, we can adapt the design to suit your requirements.

Our team has experience working across commercial, industrial, and public sector projects, so we understand the real-world challenges that come with unusual layouts. We can also provide technical drawings and guidance to ensure everything is correct before manufacture begins.

In short, if your space is challenging or outside standard dimensions, we can design and manufacture a solution that fits perfectly and performs reliably long term.

Can I choose my own colour or match existing branding?

Absolutely — you can choose your own colour or match existing branding, and this is a common requirement across commercial, industrial, and public-access sites.

We offer full RAL colour matching through our powder coating service, giving you complete flexibility to align barriers, gates, and bollards with your company branding, architectural style, or safety specifications. Whether you’re working on a new development, upgrading an existing site, or maintaining a consistent visual standard across multiple locations, colour choice plays an important role in both appearance and functionality.

While high-visibility colours such as Yellow (RAL 1021), Black (RAL 9005), or Red/White combinations are often used for safety-critical areas — particularly in car parks, loading zones, and industrial environments — we can manufacture products in virtually any RAL colour. This allows you to match surrounding features such as cladding, fencing, signage, or corporate brand colours, helping your installation blend in or stand out as required.

In addition to single-colour finishes, options can include:

  • Contrasting bands or hazard markings for improved visibility
  • Dual-colour finishes to combine branding with safety compliance
  • Reflective elements or RA1 signage where required for vehicle awareness

Our finishing process is designed for long-term durability. Products are typically hot-dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461, providing full internal and external corrosion protection. This is then followed by powder coating to BS EN 13438, creating a tough, uniform, and weather-resistant finish. The result is a coating system that not only looks professional but also resists chipping, fading, rust, and general wear, even in exposed UK environments.

If you’re working to specific planning conditions, brand guidelines, or safety standards, we can also advise on the most suitable colour choices to ensure your installation meets both visual and compliance requirements.

If you already have a colour in mind, simply provide the RAL reference when requesting a quotation, and the finish can be tailored to your exact specification.

Do bespoke products take longer to manufacture?

Not necessarily. Because we manufacture everything in-house, bespoke products are often produced just as efficiently as our standard ranges. Unlike resellers who rely on third-party suppliers, we control the full process — from design through to fabrication and finishing — which allows us to keep lead times consistent, even for custom orders.

In many cases, bespoke barriers, gates, and bollards follow our typical lead time of around two to three weeks, depending on the size, specification, finish, and overall complexity of the project. Simple modifications to existing designs can often be turned around very quickly, while more complex, fully custom builds may require slightly longer.

We’ll always confirm an accurate lead time at quotation stage, so you know exactly what to expect before placing an order. Where deadlines are critical, we can also advise on the most efficient design options to help keep your project on schedule.

In short, choosing a bespoke solution doesn’t automatically mean a longer wait — and in many cases, it’s just as quick as ordering a standard product, but far better suited to your site.

Can you add signage, height restriction labels, or extra safety markings?

Yes — we can supply a wide range of additional safety features and signage to complement your barrier, gate, or bollard installation. This includes height restriction signage, reflective decals, vehicle warning labels, hazard striping, chain eyes, and a variety of locking systems to suit your specific requirements.

These additions are designed to improve visibility, safety, and ease of use, particularly in high-traffic or low-clearance areas where clear guidance is essential. For example, reflective height signs and hazard markings help reduce the risk of vehicle strikes, while chain eyes and locking options provide added security and controlled access.

All accessories can be fitted during the manufacturing process for a complete, ready-to-install solution, or supplied separately if you prefer to install them on site. Because we manufacture in-house, we can also position and customise these features to suit your exact layout and operational needs.

In short, we don’t just supply the main product — we can provide the full package to ensure your installation is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.

What information do you need for a bespoke quotation?

To provide an accurate and efficient quotation, we’ll usually need a few key details about your site and requirements. The more information you can share upfront, the quicker and more precise we can be.

Typically, this includes:

  • The overall width of the opening (for gates and height barriers)
  • The required clear height (for height restriction barriers)
  • Whether the product will be surface-mounted (bolt-down) or concreted in (built-in)
  • Preferred material specification or duty level, if known
  • Your preferred finish (galvanised only or galvanised and powder-coated, including any RAL colour)
  • Any additional features such as locks, signage, chain eyes, or safety markings
  • Photos of the site, if available, as these can be extremely helpful in understanding layout and constraints

If you’re unsure on any of the above, don’t worry — we can guide you through it. Our team is used to working from basic information and can help you determine the right specifications based on your application.

In short, the more detail you provide, the faster we can quote — but we’re always happy to assist if you’re starting from scratch.
