What is a height-restriction barrier (or height limit barrier) for a car park and how does it work?

A height-restriction barrier (also known as a height limit barrier or car-park restrictor) is a steel structure designed to control vehicle access by restricting the maximum height that can pass through an entrance or roadway.

In most cases, height barriers are used to prevent tall vehicles, such as vans, HGVs or caravans, from entering car parks, retail sites, industrial estates, and restricted zones.

There are two main types:

• Fixed height barriers, which are permanently set to a specified clearance height (e.g. 2.1 m or 2.4 m).
