To determine the correct height restriction for your site, start by assessing the tallest vehicle you want to allow entry and the types you want to exclude.
For most public and private car parks, the standard clearance height is 2.0 – 2.2 metres — ideal for cars, SUVs, and small vans, but low enough to block high-roof commercial vehicles, HGVs, and caravans.
If your site requires occasional access for taller vehicles (e.g. delivery lorries, maintenance vans or emergency services), consider an adjustable or swing-opening height-restriction barrier. This allows you to lock the barrier in place for daily use, but open it safely when authorised access is needed.
At Aremco Barriers, all UK-manufactured height-restriction barriers are custom-built to order. We help you calculate the most suitable clearance based on vehicle types, ground gradient, approach angle, and sign placement.
Each barrier is hot-dip galvanised for corrosion protection, powder-coated in any RAL colour, and fitted with reflective aluminium height signage for visibility and compliance. The result: a barrier that’s perfectly matched to your site’s traffic flow, safety requirements, and operational needs.
