We’ve had a run of enquiries lately where the story is the same:
➡️ We quote a job.
➡️ The client goes with someone cheaper.
➡️ A few weeks later, they’re back because the product failed or the supplier disappeared.
It’s not bad luck. It’s what happens when “low price” comes before “long-term value.”
Take a barrier, for example. From the outside it looks like a simple bit of steel. But behind the scenes, the difference between a good barrier and a bad one is huge. It’s about:
That’s what you’re paying for when you deal direct with a manufacturer like us. We don’t cut corners, and we don’t rely on middlemen who inflate prices but don’t add value.
The frustrating bit? We’ve spoken to plenty of contractors who’ve given up on barriers and gates because of failures: posts bending after the first knock, gates sagging, paint flaking off, constant call-outs. But here’s the truth: barriers and bollards should not be failing all the time. That’s not “just what happens” — that’s bad design, bad fabrication, or bad maintenance.
And now? More and more companies are trying to jump into the market, flogging cheap imports or outsourcing to whoever will make it cheapest that week. Anyone can sell you a post. The real question is whether that post will actually protect your site when you need it to.
It’s easy to be the cheapest when you don’t think about the lifetime of the product. But cheap doesn’t stop ram-raids. Cheap doesn’t stop traveller encampments. Cheap doesn’t stop your customer asking why the gates already need replacing.
Value does.
That’s why Aremco Barriers will never aim to be the cheapest. We’d rather be the supplier you can actually rely on — the one that saves you money, hassle and reputation in the long run.
