Measurements are a good example.

Manual swing gates and opening height restriction barriers are substantial fabricated steel products. If a product is being manufactured to suit a particular opening, providing accurate measurements is extremely important.

Site conditions matter too.

A product may physically fit across an entrance but still be unsuitable if there isn't enough space for it to open. A bolt-down product may sound ideal until it becomes apparent that there isn't suitable structural concrete underneath it.

A telescopic bollard may appear to be the perfect solution until underground services or drainage make the proposed location unsuitable.

Understanding these things beforehand can save considerable time and inconvenience later.

Galvanised, Powder Coated – Or Both?

Customers regularly ask about the difference between galvanised steel, powder-coated steel and steel that has been galvanised and then powder coated.

The right choice depends upon the application.

Galvanising is primarily used to provide corrosion protection, while powder coating allows a product to be supplied in a wide range of colours and can provide greater visibility and a particular finished appearance.

For certain products, combining galvanising with powder coating can provide the benefits of both.

Rather than simply presenting customers with a list of finishes, we want to explain why someone might choose one over another.
